Back to the Future resreach paper

Space Race; a dream come true
The moon landing was President Kennedy’s dream. It was not about the destination, but the fulfillment of a dream. It was a mind-blowing moment to everyone in the world that was able to see the first person on the moon. This landing had changed the whole space race completely. Even now the moon landing still has people think about. The people who had a chance to live that moment are proud to be an American.
As the U.S. and the Soviet Union raced to space, they wanted to send people out to explore the unknown. “Certainly, the Apollo program was one side of a political contest, a surrogate for war.” said Roger D. Launius, “But it also stretched our imaginations and made us believe that anything we set our minds to we could accomplish.” The lunar landing was a new experience for everyone. People were amazed by this huge achievement that the U.S. had accomplish. It had plenty people talking about a new war and, yet it had change people minds.
Cheryl L. Mansfield article gave important dates and information of the U.S. space race timeline. As time passed by, the project Mercury was the first project to launch an American to space. Then NASA decided to build a facility just for the research on the Moon Landing. Later, a horrible accident occur with Apollo, in Jan 27, 1967 that killed three astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee. Then Apollo 8 did its first ever orbit around the moon in 1968. However, Apollo 11 was the most exciting it was the moon landing, that had changed the whole world completely. Apollo 8 and 11 were two significant moments that the people of the U.S. won’t forget. People were amazed by on how they made it possible to send someone to the moon and walk on it, but sad that the three astronauts that had died in Apollo 8 weren’t able to see the life changing moment.
The article “It All Started with Sputnik” described how the U.S. was falling behind in the race to space. When realizing that Soviet Union had launch the first ever orbital satellite, the U.S. created NASA it opened new opportunities for engineers and scientists to show what they have. Later, Homer Hickam explained how everything was going inside the space center. He described how the U.S. was trying to get in the lead by sending out satellites and rockets to space. Eventually, the U.S. did send the satellites and rockets, it proved that the U.S. also had the same technology and even more than the Soviet Union. Hickam also said that some people viewed the space exploration as a waste of time and money. However, with time passing by they were able to prove that all that effort and money that had gone to the space exploration was worth it with the moon landing. If it wasn’t for the Sputnik launch, the U.S. would have waited more longer to send people to space. It was a whole new experience for everyone, the idea of sending people to space was mind blowing. It changed people minds and people realize that everything is possible when there is effort and dedication. Roger believe that the moon landing was a political contest and a step closer to war. But also, expanded people imagination, to think outside the box. The moon landing had a lot of concerns, but it changed people’s mindset. They could do anything they want, now that they have seen it was possible to go to the moon. “President George W. Bush call on January 14, 2004 to reach the moon and mars during the next thirty years making clear that a belief in a limitless frontier in space still motivates us.” The quote says it all. Space travel is still something people think about and still want to do it, shows how people are still curious to see what’s out there.
In the Sixties, we sent a man to the moon; today, we sent a rover to mars. In July 20, 1969 a man was sent to step foot onto an unknown place. The moon landing had amazed millions of people in the country and around the world, it was something that people didn’t believe it actually happened. A person was sent to explore the grey rock that was seen every day, they wanted to see how it is up there and what it has to offer for everyone else. The trip was too explore and examine the wonders of the moon. On the other hand, in November 26, 2011 a Mars rover, also known as Curiosity, was sent to Mars to explore the planet. This launch was to see how planet Mars is in climate, if they could be life, and trace of living things. Even today, the rover is still working and doing what it was meant to do, to explore the unknown place like the moon. This rover has brought millions of information to know what has cause the planet to be the way it is now. Nonetheless, space exploration is something that will always amaze people, and there is always something new to explore out in space.
The Space Race was a huge impact to the world history. This topic was interesting to me because it was when the space exploration started. Without these two countries fighting to get to space first, they wouldn’t be any moon landing or the amazing technology. The Space Race is an interesting topic for everyone to know because it tells the story of two countries fighting for power and better ways to improve. During the process of this research I have learned new ways of putting important information together and creating an amazing paragraph. Also, when doing this paper, I did have trouble in finding credible articles that could of help me write a great paper. There are a lot of information that could have easily been false information. With this research paper I needed to read a lot of articles that would help me support my thesis. The amount of information that every article had it made it difficult to choose what was right for my research paper.

Motorcycle Ride on the Sea of Tranquility MVP

In the novel of “Motorcycle Ride on the Sea of Tranquility,” the author Patricia Santana, writes about a Mexican American family in the sixties. In chapter nineteen, Yolanda and her neighborhood friends and family gathered around in the middle of Conifer Street. They all gathered up to play hide-in-go-seek under a full moon on an October night. They each had to have a partner to hide with. In this chapter we realized that Chuy had a metal problem
Lydia and Yolanda were hiding together next to a bush, waiting for the seeker to try and find them. Yoli and Lydia were both nervous that they will be “IT”, but in the time of Yoli and Lydia were hiding they heard a loud scream from a girl. Everyone got scared by the unexpected scram that came from Marisa. It turned out Chuy was trying to get to Marisa, but she rejected him and she was hurt really bad. She had a broken rib and her nose trying to get away from Chuy. After that, everyone ran towards the scream and saw that Marisa was beaten up and filled with blood. Then the neighbors started to attack Chuy for causing harm to Marisa. Chuy then left running without telling anyone and Yoli was the one worried about his big brother leaving, and not knowing where he was heading. I feel that this is an important chapter because Chuy had an emotional breakdown and tried to get at Marisa, but he ended up causing harm to her. However, what really surprised me was that Marisa wasn’t mad at Chuy for what he did. She understood that he was okay and that he needed help.
This part on the story made Chuy seem like a horrible person, and has no feelings for anyone. However, in reality Chuy is a lost and confused Veteran that needs help to be himself again, but what it really like is that Yoli still loves Chuy no matter what he has done. Yoli understands that Chuy isn’t okay and she is fine with it, but still tries to help him.

They could do anything they want now that they have seen that it was possible to go to the moon. “President George W. Defining the word "Greedy" in the movie The Grinch

Defining a word
Greedy is not about wanting something, it’s about wanting more. People that are greedy always want to have everything for themselves. They never know when is enough, they want to have everything that other can’t have. For example, in the movie “The Grinch Stole Christmas”, the Grinch wanted to take and keep every present for himself. He didn’t want to anyone to have anything. He was very selfish person, and he didn’t have any feeling for others. For people to be acting in this way, where they want everything for themselves, it’s sad to not have feeling for other people. Being greedy is a sad way to live a life, it doesn’t have a sense of living.

What it took to fulfill Kennedy's Dream

In Cheryl L. Mansfield article, it gives important dates and information of the U.S. space race timeline. The whole idea of going to space was an important thing for the U.S., it would achieve Kennedy’s goal. The writer Cheryl L. Mansfield talked mainly about the historic timeline of the U.S. in the Space Race. In his article, he pointed out very important dates and moments that had change the U.S. history for good.

Terrible Fall

I was fifteen when my dad bought me my first ever motorcycle. Even though, my mom didn’t agree to this purchase. I didn’t know how to us a motorcycle when my dad come home with it. Then I slowly started to use it, it took me some time to learn how the gears work. At first, the motorcycle would always turn off on me when I tried to get it moving. After, learning how to get it moving I left like I discovered a whole new thing, I was amazed on how fast I learned how to use it.  I was excited to keep riding because it made me feel like a totally new person. I felt free and I would just enjoy my time by myself in the middle of the desert. It was a great feeling until I didn’t look up and see where I was going. Falling off a motorcycle has made me realize to be safer.
I learned how dangerous a motorcycle can be by the hard way. Off-Roading is something I enjoy doing, but since the time I fell off my ATV it has made me think twice before doing something. I had never thought that I could get hurt by doing the thing I love the most. I ended up having minor injuries in my arm and back, and I was lucky that nothing major happed. I have seen and heard of how people die or have gotten into a major accident because of the reckless use of motorcycling. For example, people that ride reckless realize how things can turn ugly in a couple of seconds, and that was what ended up happening to me. I was riding my motorcycle and I wasn’t paying attention of where and how fast I was going. I was just trying to have a good time like I always have before. All I remember is looking up and realizing that there was a steep rocky hill a couple foot away and only had a little bit of time to react. So, I ended up slamming the breaks and the tries just slip on the dirt like if it was on ice, and twisted the steering wheel so I won’t do directly toward the hill. I ended up diving off and rolled a couple of feet where I lost my helmet and I saw that I had cuts, bruises, and scratches throughout my body. By living this experience, I realize how reckless I was and didn’t really see how bad things could turn out to. I had to experience a dangerous situation to learn a lesson.
However, falling off a motorcycle wasn’t the worst part. After the fall, I didn’t know what I was doing. I just remember hearing my name being shout out repeatedly by my mom, that was scared after seeing me roll over on the dirt. When I sat down, I saw my family worried and they were asking me questions on how I felt and if I was okay, but I didn’t really know what to answer I was in shock for a couple of minutes. I just saw my shirt a bit teared and scratches on my arms. Then, I started to limp because I had sprinted my ankle when I hit the ground. My doctor had told me that I was close enough to breaking my ankle and might have needed surgery to fix it back to place.  I was freaked out that I almost broke my ankle. I honestly didn’t realize that anything bad could of happen when I ride my motorcycle. I always tend to be careful but this time things just got out of hand. When the doctor told me, what could have happened to my ankle, that was when I realize how reckless I was and thought that nothing could happen. My terrible fall was just a part of the reason that I realize how reckless I was acting. Seeing myself in pain and with scratches on my body had scar me, and hope that it doesn’t occur again.
It took me time to get back on and ride again. When I was fully recovered from the fall, I was scared to get to get back on. I would still go out with my family to the desert but I would just be sitting down all the time. My brother would ask me if I wanted to go for a turn with him, but I still had the accident stuck in my head. I guess I just didn’t want to get hurt again because it took me time to full recover. The days that my family and I would go off-roading I was tempted to just hop on and go for a long ride to feel free again. However, there was something in my head that would always held me back. The fear of living the pain again was holding me back from getting on. I was frightened of going through the same experience again, I didn’t want to hurt myself like I had done recently.
Riding a motorcycle recklessly changed how I view life. Sadly, I do miss feel the wind hitting my face, but the accident is something that I won’t forget. It has made me change the way I act, you could say it made me a bit more mature. Since that day I have ride a bit more slower and more cautions. After, the terrible fall I manage to get over it and I was able to get back on a motorcycle again. This experience is something that will stuck with me forever.
